Radiated Tortoise: A critically endangered species

Did you know that the radiated tortoise is listed as critically endangered by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature)? Scientific researches mention that these small reptiles, which can weigh up to 16 kg, is threatened of extinction because of habitat losses and exploitation, in the form of commerce. The species is listed in the Appendix 1 of the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). Radiata are originated from Madagascar and can live up to 150 years.
